China Resources Recycling Group Launches New Platforms to Advance National Circular Economy
Tianjin, China – China Resources Recycling Group recently held an industrial ecology innovation development themed event at the Tianjin Eco-City. The event featured the launch of two significant online platforms – the National Recycled Steel Trading Service Platform and the China Equipment Asset Circulation Platform. The Group also promoted its Green Low-Carbon Circular Economy Demonstration Base and, in partnership with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), launched the Circular Economy Eco-Design and Green Supply Chain Standards Project in Tianjin. These initiatives mark concrete steps in exploring practical pathways for resource recycling and green, low-carbon development, aiming to establish a new structure for the resource recycling industry.

1. National and Functional Layout Takes Shape
Since its establishment in Tianjin in October 2024, China Resources Recycling Group has been serving national strategic needs. Building on efforts to enhance the quality and efficiency of existing businesses like recycled steel and green fiber, the Group has established specialized subsidiaries focusing on batteries, non-ferrous metals, motor vehicles, equipment assets, new energy, green fiber, electronic appliances, and plastics. This signals the initial formation of its national and functional layout.

"We are leveraging our role in the circular economy to drive progress by establishing mechanisms, building platforms, setting standards, and promoting norms," said Mr. Zhu Jianchun, General Manager of China Resources Recycling Group. "We are developing key technologies like AI-powered intelligent inspection, sorting, and separation to provide comprehensive integrated solutions for society – encompassing collection, warehousing, processing, distribution, trade-ins, and more."
The newly launched National Recycled Steel Trading Service Platform offers diversified products, including material disposal and reverse invoicing services. It provides full-process transaction support—from resource verification to performance tracking—ensuring secure and efficient deals through precise supply-demand matching. Furthermore, it builds a national resource pool by consolidating recycled steel supply and demand from various regions, enabling cross-regional optimal allocation and smoothing the channels for recycled steel resource utilization.
The China Equipment Asset Circulation Platform features dedicated zones for trading, leasing, and international business. It aims to create unified industry databases, standard libraries, and process libraries. By developing a modular, role-based, and value-driven collaborative system for equipment circulation processes, the platform is building a new ecosystem for the industry.
The China Resources Recycling Group Green Low-Carbon Circular Economy Demonstration Base is introducing industries such as heavy-duty truck battery processing, vehicle dismantling, and comprehensive cascading utilization of decommissioned photovoltaic panels. It is building a complete industrial chain encompassing "Collection → Cascading Use → Recycling," streamlining the resource cycle chain, achieving carbon reduction throughout the entire process, and creating a zero-carbon park.
The Circular Economy Eco-Design and Green Supply Chain Standards Project, implemented via a project consortium, focuses on formulating standards, building databases, and establishing platforms. This contributes Chinese wisdom to the high-quality development of the global resource recycling industry.
2. Expanding a Multi-Layered "Circle of Friends" with Industry Partners
How can a thriving "rainforest" of innovation be cultivated? China Resources Recycling Group's strategy involves modularizing and defining roles within the resource recycling chain, promoting unified standards for the classification, testing, and pricing of waste resources, and establishing a data-sharing alliance for recycled materials. The Group is also creating a digital map of renewable resources and building a full-lifecycle traceability system, aiming for a comprehensive, integrated overview of renewable resources. Concurrently, it is developing benchmark scenarios and demonstration projects to create industrial model carriers, fostering the formation of high-end, intelligent, and green industrial clusters.
"We will advance the upgrade and transformation of traditional platforms," Zhu Jianchun told reporters. "Centering on a closed-loop system of 'Resource Collection → Recycling → Remanufacturing → Green Materials,' we will build an intelligent management platform covering the entire process—collection, processing, storage, transportation, recycling, and trading—to promote interconnected industrial chains, synergistic regional chains, and co-created value chains."
He further stated that China Resources Recycling Group is deepening the integration of digital and real economies by applying AI technologies and integrating logistics, warehousing, finance, and data elements. This drives the resource recycling sector from a state of "regional fragmentation" toward a coordinated "national integrated strategy." Additionally, the Group is helping to improve the regulatory system, industry credit evaluation system, and price formation mechanisms to invigorate all types of business entities within the industry.
