Life Bio and Yuantian Bio Collaborate to Complete BioFleax™ Bioenzymatic Recycling Closed-Loop Verification
Recently, Life Bio and Yuantian Bio have established a strategic partnership and achieved the first-ever verification for the bioenzymatic recycling of post-consumer BioFleax™ and PEF materials.
The two parties have successfully conducted joint verification of the bioenzymatic recycling and circular regeneration pathway for BioFleax™ bio-based PEF fiber. This milestone further clarifies the recyclability of BioFleax™ in real-world application scenarios, while also providing a more feasible and scalable circular solution for the PEF material system.
BioFleax™ is a highly recyclable circular material that can be efficiently processed using a wide range of physical, chemical, and other conventional recycling technologies and facilities.
This partnership focuses on verifying the post-consumer recycling feasibility and facility compatibility of BioFleax™. Through Yuantian’s bioenzymatic method, BioFleax™ can be efficiently and precisely depolymerized into the platform molecule FDCA without altering the original reaction system, equipment, process, or enzyme type, achieving a closed-loop cycle from material back to monomer. The process features a clear recycling pathway, mild processing conditions, and controllable costs, demonstrating its broad potential for textile and other high-performance applications.
This innovative solution is not limited to BioFleax™ fiber but can also be extended to ECOPEF™ resin, offering a reliable pathway for the full lifecycle management of bio-based high-performance materials.
A core highlight of the collaboration is the completion of the full process: “post-consumer BioFleax™ recycling → bioenzymatic depolymerization → monomer repolymerization into PEF → efficient regeneration of BioFleax™,” thereby maximizing the sustainable value of bio-based materials.
This pathway confirms the feasibility of BioFleax™ in bioenzymatic recycling and provides a clear demonstration for the industrial-scale promotion of the PEF material system, establishing a replicable circular model for textiles, packaging, and other high-performance applications.
Through their collaboration, Life Bio has not only validated the feasibility and broad recyclability of BioFleax™ and PEF via bioenzymatic recycling within its existing material system, but Yuantian’s technological capability has also found new application scenarios in PEF, a next-generation bio-based material system.
