Transformed the discarded wind turbine blades into eco-friendly shoes ----The new trend for plastic recycling technology

Recently, an eco-friendly shoes made by discarded wind turbine blades  has launched at Spain, which sparked widespread attention in the sustainable consumption and plastic plastic recycling industries.

This series of shoes is jointly launched by ACCIONA Energ and El Ganso. The uniqueness is that the material of shoes sole is made from old wind turbine blades combining rubber.   

The raw materials of this innovative project come from the Tahivilla wind farm in C á diz, Spain.

The wind farm established in 1998. It has recently updated 98 old wind draught fan to be efficient modern NORDEX draught fan.

The dismantled draught fan became the raw materials for the eco-friendly shoes, reached a resource-closed-loop from the wind farm to the shoe field.  

As a leader in renewable energy field, ACCIONA Energía has actively explored this issue.It innovatively grinds waste blades into fine composite powder through mechanical friction technology, which is rich in glass fiber and epoxy resin, and then mixed with rubber for shoemaking.

This technology not only takes an important step in the reuse of  renewable energy, but also provides a tech example to the plastic and composite material recycling industry.

Thermosetting composite materials (including epoxy resin, unsaturated polyester resin, vinyl resin, etc.) have long been regarded as a "non recyclable" problem, but with the development of new mechanical separation, pyrolysis, and chemical recycling processes, the reuse of such materials is gradually entering the stage of scalable implementation.
